SCATE® TECHNOLOGIES, INC.
TO PROVIDE NO-COST WORKER RETENTION TRAINING PROGRAM
FIRST WAVE TARGETED FOR ENGINEERING EMPLOYEES
(Orion, MI - February 24, 2006) SCATE® Technologies, Inc. announced today that it
has been selected to participate in an Incumbent Worker [training] Program (IWP) to help
Oakland County employers that are experiencing a decline (and have the potential to
undergo layoffs) or are experiencing a serious skills gap that impacts their ability to
compete and retain workers. Initially, the program will focus on providing CATIA V5
CAD training to help these companies fill positions that will be created when the newly
trained employees are retained or promoted.
IWP funding is targeted at currently employed workers where a determination has been
made that the workers require training in order to keep the employer competitive and the
workers employed to avert layoffs, upgrade worker's skills, increase wages earned by
employees, and/or keep worker's skills competitive.
Such training supports career advancement and encompasses skills that are transferable
as a means of promoting high skill, high wage positions and economic development
within the region.
SCATE® Technological Institute Director, Phil Palazzolo said “The program maximizes
the efficiency of our well-established and award-winning CATIA V5 online course
catalog while blending the electronic courses with hands on lab time. Our lab facilities
in Orion were built specifically for classroom instruction in CATIA V5 and are populated
with new, high end engineering workstations.“ Mr. Palazzolo went on to explain that “Students will be able to do the bulk of their training online and off hours from home
where feasible, so actual time spent in the lab can be minimized.”
The program targets companies in the manufacturing, health and education, construction,
finance, trade, transportation, leisure and hospitality, professional and business services,
emerging business, and utility sectors in Oakland County. SCATE® plans to expand the
program to the remaining counties in southeast Michigan in the coming weeks.
“The registration process is really quite simple” said Jeff Holth, SCATE® Director of
Business Development. “Interested companies need only to provide the names of their
targeted learners to us, and we will facilitate the rest through the Oakland County
funding system. From initial contact to training kickoff can be as little as two weeks and
there is no minimum or maximum number of learners. There are no hidden costs, as the
training is completely grant funded, including any lab time,” said Mr. Holth.
Companies interested in participating in the program should contact Phil Palazzolo at
248.371.0315 Ext. 102, or email PPalazzolo@scate.com.
