SCATE® TECHNOLOGIES, INC.
RELEASES MULTI-VECTOR VISION™
KEY CUSTOMER ESTIMATES $137 MILLION ANNUAL COST AVOIDANCE AND SUBSTANTIAL PRODUCT TIME-TO-MARKET REDUCTIONS
(Orion, MI - January 26, 2006) SCATE® Technologies, Inc. has released Multi-Vector
Vision™ (MVV)
a breakthrough vision analysis tool that can be used by anyone with a
need to mathematically quantify operator/machine interface obscuration. SCATE®
developed this new service to address the needs of automotive interior manufacturers, but
now sees unlimited uses for the ground-breaking application. Not only will MVV create
tremendous product development cycle reductions, but it will also drastically improve
time to market
up to 7% in the estimation of one automotive OEM.
Multi-Vector Vision™ can currently be used by any organization that has analysis and
governmental reporting requirements for vision and obscuration studies such as
cockpit/instrument panel visibility, angular forward vision, 3D visual mass, and day/night
visibility. MVV is revolutionary in that it “quantifies” and “ranks” various designs for
their effectiveness in a completely virtual setting. MVV performs studies on raw
computer-aided design (CAD) data, thus enabling the user to catch fatal design flaws
before they reach engineering and prototype phases, or worse
the production phase.
SCATE® President and CEO, Steve Sadler explained further. “We created the Multi-
Vector Vision™ application service to help companies that create vehicular cockpit
systems to lower product development costs and lead time, so we knew that there would
be a healthy market. What we did not fully realize was how big of an impact it would
have. The customers that purchased MVV have surprised us with their cost savings and
product development cycle reduction estimates. Now we are investigating even wider
markets for MVV beyond transportation markets such as architecture, aerospace, sports
applications, etc. The possibilities are virtually unlimited for the application of MVV.”
Multi-Vector Vision™ is a patent pending “Occupant Obscuration Visualization”
software tool/service that is used to replicate the human operator's eyes as described
by SAE (The Society of Automotive Engineers) J1050 - (The Visible Areas of Control &
Display Surfaces on the Instrument Panel). SCATE® Multi-Vector Vision™ currently
operates with Unigraphics NX3 and gathers vision audit information directly from native
UG CAD parts. SCATE also plans to “port” MVV to support CATIA V5, and possibly
other CAD platforms. MVV works by analyzing the design, and comparing the result to
specific FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) and SAE criteria. This data is
then uploaded and displayed interactively on a hosted website, which maintains the
results on a 128bit encrypted server that is AAA (Authentication, Authorization &
Auditing) enabled providing a high level of security and easy access.
“When it comes to creating any new product for the marketplace, speed to market, cost
containment and overall quality are the name of the game if one wants to effectively
compete” said Dan Rea, SCATE® COO. “In an age when significant advances in these
areas are measured in tenths of a percentage point, seven percent gains represent
revolutionary change. We are excited to explore the potential applications of MVV, and
it has quickly become one of our flagship services” said Rea. Mr. Rea went on to say that
“We see applications for MVV that include early design analysis of products like aircraft
cockpits, sunglasses, protective face shields, safety glasses, etc
anything where the
design's effectiveness is impacted by the ability of the operator or wearer to have a clear,
glare-free, and unobstructed view of his or her task at hand.”
